The Regulation Issue
In a rapidly growing market, companies are jumping on the CBD bandwagon. Quickly, a divide is happening among poor-quality and high-quality CBD products. This invisible line has grown much in thanks to the fact CBD products are unregulated by the federal government. There are a lot of questions out there about CBD products with answers that aren’t clearly defined. That’s where we step in.
Who is Made By Hemp?
When we started our Made by Hemp CBD store, our team conducted countless hours of research. We tested a multitude of CBD products and saw first-hand what worked …and what did not. As a team, we put our knowledge and first-hand experience together to create a trusted online shop that features our products and other brands we trust.
Over the past 6+ years, we’ve been able to expand our curated selection of CBD oil products and share our knowledge with you through videos, media appearances, and guides like this one.
Without further ado, let’s clarify some of the questions surrounding CBD to help you find the right CBD products that will meet your unique needs.
We all want a good deal. However, it shouldn’t be at the expense of effectiveness. Price and potency are important when choosing CBD products, but they’re not all that counts. Without any regulation, there isn’t much accountability among CBD companies. Therefore, not all CBD products are created equally.
As the market continues to grow, that gap between quality and inferiority will continue to grow along with it. For the most part, it’s because there currently aren’t standards set for CBD products. At Made by Hemp, we look to set that standard.
Every item in our store is guaranteed to be high quality, and we stand behind each one with a generous return policy. We work hard to provide a selection of items that are reasonably priced for all walks of life. Our team discovered the balance between high-quality and affordability while formulating our Made By Hemp products. That experience enabled us to create a set of criteria, and we hold every CBD product in our store to it.
As we expand our online store, we vett every company before featuring their products to make sure they check off the right boxes. If you are shopping for CBD products, we suggest you do the same. Be sure to research a company thoroughly to make sure they meet the following criteria.
ARE THE CBD PRODUCTS THIRD-PARTY LAB TESTED?
When you buy a product, you want to know exactly what you’re putting in or on your body. You should be able to trust the label on the product, but it’s not always that easy. Especially for unregulated industries like CBD.
A recent study found that up to 70% of CBD products are mislabeled. That means there are many CBD products on the market today that don’t live up to the claims on their labels, including how much CBD they contain.
Don’t buy your CBD products blindly. Purchase from a company that operates with full transparency. Make sure you are only buying from companies that offer Lab Reports of their CBD products.
At Made by Hemp, all of our products are third-party lab tested. For the products we do not manufacture ourselves, we ensure they have Lab Reports (COAs) for every shipment we receive, rejecting if one is not presented and even have them tested ourselves to make sure it matches us.
When checking lab reports, it’s also important to make sure an independent laboratory conducts the tests instead of the companies themselves. That’s a level of transparency that holds companies accountable for their actions in an otherwise unregulated industry.
Taking these measures allows us to sell CBD products with peace of mind. Simply check the lab results for any item before purchasing CBD products in our Made by Hemp store. You can find the reports right under the product name on their respective pages.
Lab tests can also be found by scanning the QR code on your CBD product.
Where is the Hemp Sourced?
Think about it. Would you rather buy a banana grown in the Caribbean or in the Arctic? You want to make sure the CBD product you’re purchasing was formulated from hemp sourced in favorable conditions.
Hemp plants are excellent at purifying the air. While that makes them an invaluable resource in many ways, it means that hemp grown for making CBD supplements requires special care. Hemp can soak up toxins, so it’s important for the plants to be grown in clean soil with no pesticides.
Be suspicious of products produced in countries that are generally known to cultivate hemp with pesticides, such as China. We recommend sticking to CBD products sourced from hemp grown in the United States or Europe, with excellent growing standards.
Is It Full-Spectrum, Broad-Spectrum, or CBD Isolate?
As you shop for CBD products, you’ll start to notice a variety of terms that might not make sense at first.
However, it’s important to know what they mean so you can make an informed decision. Customers often report that one type works better for them than another, but there isn’t enough research for anyone to give you a definitive answer as to which will work the best for your wellness goals.
By knowing what form of CBD you’re taking, you’ll be able to try different products and compare them with an advanced understanding of what makes them different. In other words, you’ll be able to pinpoint which form works best for you, and that’s only going to help you as you continue your wellness journey.
So, what’s the difference between them?
There are three primary forms of CBD oil used to make CBD products. Their appearance and consistency are different, but the most important thing to recognize is their chemical makeup.
Let’s start with CBD isolate, which is perhaps the simplest introduction. Isolate is a fine white powder and is pure CBD. No other compounds are present. Its popularity comes largely from its cheap price tag.
Moving on to full-spectrum, this oil packs many beneficial compounds in addition to CBD, making it a potent option for supporting big wellness goals. A full-spectrum CBD product contains phytonutrients, terpenes, and other cannabinoids that work together and add their own unique properties.
CBD is just one of the 113 cannabinoids that have been discovered in the cannabis plant. The other 112 have their own unique effects on the body. Both full-spectrum and broad-spectrum CBD products contain unique cannabinoid profiles, but the key difference is typically that THC has been removed from broad-spectrum. That is not always the case, however, as the term is used loosely.
Is it THC-Free ?
Cannabis is most well-known for the intoxicating effects caused by one specific cannabinoid: THC. While hemp naturally contains THC, it’s nowhere near the levels of marijuana. Legally, hemp contains 0.3% or less THC in its genetic makeup. There’s not enough of this compound in hemp to cause an intoxicating effect.
However, the trace amounts of THC in hemp could theoretically show up in a drug test. It’s reported on rare occasion, which is why THC-free CBD products are in demand.
