How to Use a CBD Tincture

Shake the bottle, squeeze the dropper, place the oil under your tongue, and hold it there for 60 seconds before swallowing. The sublingual method supports faster absorption than swallowing outright. Refer to the product label for serving guidance.

You can also add a dropper’s worth to food or drinks. Stir into morning coffee, blend into a smoothie, or mix into a salad dressing.

Full-Spectrum, Broad-Spectrum, or CBD Isolate?

Our tinctures come in three formulations so you can choose what fits your goals:

  • Full-spectrum: contains hemp’s natural cannabinoids and terpenes, including trace THC (under 0.3% by federal law).
  • Broad-spectrum: same profile with the THC removed.
  • CBD isolate: pure CBD with no other cannabinoids.

If drug testing is a concern, go with broad-spectrum or isolate. Full-spectrum contains trace THC that may affect test results. We cannot guarantee test outcomes.

What’s the Difference Between Hemp Oil and CBD Oil?

“CBD oil” usually describes a product containing only CBD without other cannabinoids or terpenes. “Hemp oil” is a broader term that can mean full-spectrum, broad-spectrum, isolate, or even hemp seed oil (which has no CBD). Made By Hemp specifically carries hemp-derived CBD tinctures, so you know exactly what is in each bottle. Check the label and COA for specifics.

What Are Terpenes?

Terpenes are aromatic compounds found in plants. They’re responsible for the distinct smell of lavender, citrus peel, pine needles, and cannabis. Hemp contains dozens of terpenes, and full-spectrum CBD oil retains them alongside the cannabinoids.

Common hemp terpenes include limonene (citrusy), humulene (earthy, also found in hops), linalool (floral, also in lavender), and pinene (fresh, also in rosemary and pine).

How Long Does a CBD Tincture Take to Work?

Sublingual absorption typically sets in within 15 to 45 minutes, depending on your metabolism and whether you’ve eaten. If you take your tincture with food, onset may be a bit slower. Some people notice changes early, others adjust over a few weeks of consistent use.

How Much Should You Take?

Serving size depends on several factors:

  • Body weight
  • Age
  • Individual metabolism
  • Tincture strength
  • Your personal goals

Start with the serving size on the product label and adjust based on how you feel after a week of consistent use. When in doubt, ask your healthcare provider for their recommendation.
